FC St. Pauli lost by the only goal of the game against SC Freiburg on Saturday. In an even contest low on chances, Nikola Vasilj saved a Vincenzo Grifo penalty, as in the reverse fixture, just before the interval, only for a deflected Christian Günter effort to win it for the visitors late on.

The Bundesliga campaign continues with a trip to Leipzig on Sunday (kick-off: 17.30 CET). Head coach Alexander Blessin looked ahead to the game at the pre-match news conference on Friday.

FC St. Pauli failed to land their third consecutive win on Saturday afternoon after being held to a 1-1 draw by FC Augsburg. The Boys in Brown took a deserved lead when Noahkai Banks put through his own goal after 17 minutes and looked set for victory thanks to a strong defensive performance, only for Mert Kömür to level the scores with Augsburg's second attempt on goal eight minutes before the end of regulation time.
