Sands undergoes surgery after serious injury

FCSP midfielder James Sands sustained a complex ankle injury involving a torn medial collateral ligament and a fractured fibula just before the final whistle against SC Freiburg on Saturday.

Sands has since undergone surgery at University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

We wish James all the best for a speedy recovery!

The game looked to be heading for a scoreless draw for long periods, but Freiburg won it late on with an unfortunate own goal. Afterwards, the consensus in the camp was that the performance would have merited a point even though it wasn't our best in recent weeks.
