Morgan Guilavogui joins on loan

FC St. Pauli have bolstered their attack with the acquisition of Guinea international Morgan Guilavogui on loan from French top division club RC Lens. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose any details of the deal.

Guilavogui moved to Lens in July 2023 after spells at SC Toulon and Paris FC. The 26-year-old striker made 23 Ligue 1 appearances last term, scoring two goals. He also played four times in the Champions League and once in the Europa League. In a total of 87 Ligue 2 and Cup appearances for Paris FC, Guilavogui contributed 32 goals and 11 assists and has also scored twice and made another in 21 games for Guinea.

Reaction to the deal:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "With his physical presence Morgan Guilavogui adds a new facet to our attack. His combination of size, power and pace makes him a threat both on the ground and in the air. He's also a good link-up player, which makes him an exact fit for the requirements we had identified in this position."

Head coach Alexander Blessin: "Morgan is a physically strong striker who is very active and direct and constantly making runs in deep. He can make chances for himself by taking defenders on and also creates good opportunities for his teammates. Equally important for our game, however, is the fact that Morgan transitions quickly and works very hard defensively."

Morgan Guilavogui: "I'm convinced an exciting challenge awaits me at FC St. Pauli. From my brother I know the Bundesliga is on a very high level and the opportunity to compete with teams and players in this category is a very exciting prospect. The task now is to settle in quickly because I want to make the best possible use of my strengths to ensure we play a good role in the league."
