Boys in Brown to face neighbours Eintracht Norderstedt in DFB Cup first round

FC St. Pauli will make the short trip to Eintracht Norderstedt in the first round of the DFB Cup. The draw was made by Hamburg sprinter Owen Ansah at the German Football Museum in Dortmund on Sunday evening. The tie will take place between 15 and 18 August.
Eintracht Norderstedt qualified for the DFB Cup by winning the Hamburg State Cup. In an exciting final, former FCSP Under-23 coach Elard Ostermann guided his team to victory over fifth-tier USC Paloma after a penalty shootout. It will be Norderstedt’s fifth appearance in the DFB Cup overall and their first since the 4-0 first-round defeat against Hannover 96 in 2021.
Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: “We’re looking forward to taking on our neighbours in the DFB Cup. We’ve been going to Norderstedt for many years with the Under-23s, of course, and there are players and stories linking the two clubs as well. Another nice thing about the draw is that lots of fans will be able to go to the game due to the close proximity. From a footballing point of view the aim is obviously to go through to the next round.”
