FC St. Pauli beat Norderstedt on penalties to reach next round
FC St. Pauli are through to the second round of the DFB Cup after beating fourth-tier Eintracht Norderstedt 3-2 on penalties on Saturday afternoon. The Blessin XI squandered a host of chances in front of 28,946 spectators at Millerntor Stadium, but after 120 goalless minutes they emerged on top in the shootout despite missing twice from the spot.

FC St. Pauli beat Hellas Verona 1-0 in friendly
For the final pre-season friendly, FCSP head coach Alexander Blessin made two changes to his starting line-up compared to the friendly at Coventry City. Adam Dźwigała came in for David Nemeth, who was sidelined with a groin problem. In addition, Danel Sinani started in place of Oladapo Afolayan. Central defender Jannik Robatsch missed the game due to illness.
