BOYS IN BROWN FACE YOUNG GUNS IN AUE TEST
The Boys in Brown hit the ground running last weekend when they started the season with a victory for the first time in three years. And for the first time in what seemed like an eternity at least some of you were able to celebrate a winning afternoon at the Millerntor. The 3-0 defeat of Holstein Kiel offered an initial pointer yet amounted to nothing more than the first three points in the bag. On Sunday afternoon (13:30 CET), the Schultz XI start from scratch again at Erzgebirge Aue aiming to build on last week's encouraging showing.

Jakov Medić is out of breath. His first 90 minutes at the Millerntor have stretched him to the limit. Exhausted, but happy, the 22-year-old centre-back summarises the game for us in the mixed zone. St. Pauli have kicked off the new season with a 3-0 victory over Holstein Kiel, the effort was worthwhile. Later, Medić garners widespread praise for his performance.

WONDER STRIKE EASES BOYS IN BROWN TO OPENING-DAY WIN OVER KIEL
FC St. Pauli made a successful start to the 2021/22 season with a deserved 3-0 defeat of Holstein Kiel in front of 8,900 fans at Millerntor Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Leart Paqarada opened the scoring with a wonderful strike on 11 minutes before second-half goals from Daniel-Kofi Kyereh and Guido Burgstaller put the first points on the board.
Before the game kicked off a minute's silence was held in honour of the recently deceased Claus "Bubu" Bubke, Esther Bejarano and the victims of the heavy rainfall. Rest in peace!

Opening game in potentially the best second division of all time – Boys in Brown start against Kiel
What head coach Timo Schultz dubbed probably the most attractive second division of all time kicked off on Friday evening, with the Boys in Brown beginning at home against Holstein Kiel on Sunday (13:30 CET). After narrowly missing out on promotion last term, Kiel will be hoping to knock on the door to the top flight once again, while the Schultz XI are aiming to rekindle the impressive form they displayed in the second half of last season and enjoy a successful campaign.

The decision as to who will lead the Boys in Brown out onto the field in the 2021/22 season has been taken. Following the election of a six-man team committee by the players, head coach Timo Schultz named Philipp Ziereis new captain. The centre-back succeeds Christopher Avevor.
